Purpose

.

This policy is in place to provide a secure facility to ensure the safety of Edge Gymnastics members, their families and Edge staff. The policy will be reviewed annually to ensure Edge Gymnastics is in line with the current Victorian State Government Child Protection Laws.

.

Please ensure your child is dressed in gym attire prior to arrival. If your child needs to use the toilet, please ask a staff member before they enter the gym and have them return to you to wait to be called into the gym.

Coaches will call all gymnasts into the gym when it is time to start class. For safety reasons and to ensure the timely commencement of classes, parents are not permitted into the gym.

Junior Gym children need to wait in the foyer with their parent/guardian until the coach calls the class into the gym. If your Junior Gym child requires the bathroom please notify the office staff upon arrival.

.

Development and squad parents and guardians must gain permission from an Edge staff member prior to entering the gym. Parents, guardians and family members are not to enter the gym or view classes via the side or rear doors or through the roller doors when open on warm days. Edge staff will request all unauthorised persons without permission to immediately leave the gym area and exit the facility. Early/late pick up

.

If you need to pick up your child early or someone else will be picking up your child, please let an Edge staff member know prior to your child’s class commencing. If you are aware you may be late to collect your child, please notify your child’s coach so your child may wait in the gym with their coach until you arrive. Edge understands that due to unforeseen circumstances you may be late for pick up. Please ensure to call the emergency phone on 0423 610 335 to advise Edge staff so alternate arrangements can be made at the end of your child’s class.

Gymnast Pick Up

.

Gymnasts are dismissed inside the gym. Please wait for your child in the foyer to ensure they safely exit the venue. All members will be asked if they can see their parent, guardians or designated lift prior to leaving the gym and are advised to return to their coach if they are unable to see their lift. Children under the age of 12 are instructed not to be allowed to leave the gym without an adult. Please reinforce this behaviour by asking your child to wait inside for you.

Responsibility

.

Coaching supervision is provided during scheduled class times. It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to provide appropriate supervision of their child before and after classes. Children should be advised to tell their coach or another staff member if nobody arrives to pick them up.

Parking and safety

.

Edge is located within an industrial site with entrances/exits on Warrigal Road and the corner of Freighter Road and Simpson Street. Member safety is a top priority so please drive slowly and carefully taking into consideration that some members are very young children. On arrival and departure please be mindful that our class times are scattered so there may be pedestrians in the carpark at all times.

Edge has clearly marked allocated car parks, please only park in designated spaces or use the street parking available. There is a painted walkway from our car park to the gym door to help provide safe entry and exit to the gym.

Responsibility

.

It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to provide appropriate supervision of their children outside the facility. Children are not permitted to play in the car park before or after classes.
